Buon Compleanno Platea, fifth edition

Platea | Palazzo Galeano presents as part of the exhibition program Fivefold Tuning, a new educational project curated by Bianca Basile, “Buon compleanno Platea!” in collaboration with Banca Centropadana.

Fifth edition

The Association celebrates its fifth year of activity with a workshop by artist Nicola Biagetti dedicated to students at the Liceo Artistico Callisto Piazza, aimed at creating a project of public billboards displayed throughout the city of Lodi, reflecting on the city’s collective identity, on display from Thursday, 4 June to 14 June 2026.

From 4 to 14 June 2026 Platea Palazzo Galeano celebrates its fifth birthday with the now well-established format of Buon Compleanno Platea!
During this period, as every year since 2022, the showcase space expands and spreads throughout the city, through posters created by young creatives from Lodi, with the support of Banca Centropadana. The project takes the form of an artist's workshop held in collaboration with the Graphic Design course of the Liceo Artistico Callisto Piazza of Lodi and Professor Luca Armigero.

Leading the fifth edition of Buon Compleanno Platea! is the artist Nicola Biagetti, who conceived the workshop, curated by Bianca Basile, by intertwining his own research with certain elements of the work senza | soluzione di continuità of Liliana Moro. The opening installation of the Platea exhibition series, Fivefold Tuning, curated by Giovanna Manzotti, allows the city to ‘break through’ the shop window, reflecting itself within it through the mirrored material covering its walls.

During the workshop, Class III D explored the theme of the reflection of the city through sound and water, two elements of the work on display selected by Biagetti as they are representative, respectively, of Moro’s practice and the Lodi area.
The workshop was sparked by a shared reflection on the use of water as a lens to describe the evolution over time of the relationship between the territory and the community of its inhabitants.

The photography and sound sampling of the locations were followed by the selection and combination of the shared materials. The result is three posters representing the relational dimension of the Lodi community with the environment – urban and otherwise – in relation to the past, the present and the future. Each time period is associated with one of the three primary printing colours: cyan, yellow and magenta. Each graphic summary corresponds to a collective vision, also expressed through a bespoke soundtrack, accessible from the poster via a QR code.

During the fourth classroom session, as every year, the posters will also take the form of postcards and will be collected in a custom-made box set. Thanks to this further phase of the project, the other temporal summaries created by the students will also be shared, each accompanied by its respective audio track.
Thus, the dissemination of the showcase this year not only extends beyond its physical space – through the distribution of 300 posters across the city – but also transcends the visual dimension, hitherto exclusive to the posters, to give a voice to the local area and its inhabitants.

Later, the posters will form the starting point for a project carried out in partnership with the Pierre Association to be held in September. Children aged between 6 and 10, guided by the artist and musician Stefano Fumagalli, will explore the creation of sounds inspired by water and will work together to create a musical performance that will be presented in front of the shop window on Corso Umberto I.
The project is supported by the Soroptimist International Club of Lodi.

Nato nel 2022 to celebrate the association’s first year of activity, the project Buon Compleanno Platea! was originally conceived as an open competition to create a poster campaign in memory of the performance with which Marcello Maloberti had launched the shop window’s activities in June 2021. The first two editions awarded prizes to the posters created by Marika Schiavi (2022) and Zaira De Gaetano (2023). The third edition, however, marked a change of pace, offering a workshop developed in collaboration with the Liceo Artistico Callisto Piazza and with Professor Armigero and Professor Carossa, led by the artist-teaching duo Stefano Comensoli_Nicolò Colciago. In 2025 the workshop was led by Marvin Gabriele Nwachukwu.
